Community Based Rehabilitation

Location: MI > CBR>Social

Aims to promote the social model of disability, for people with disabilities  to live as equal citizens within the community, to enjoy health and well being, to participate fully in educational, social,   cultural, religious, economic and political.

The Govt. of India has various schemes for people with disabilities under education, health, livelihood & social protection.  To build multi –sectoral linkages the programme conducts regular facilitation to Sangha (Self Help Group) members on different schemes.

Actively included in the family life and community is integral to a person’s development and identity. The opportunities to participate in socio- cultural activities has a strong impact on a person, but children and adults with disabilities have fewer opportunities to do so because of low income, environmental & attitudinal barriers. The cycle of social exclusions further reduces the self esteem & self confidence of people with disabilities.  The programmed works through the Sanghas, builds the capacity of the members who in turn work with people with disabilities in all developmental activities in the community.                                                    More …
