organisations for the empowerment and livelihood of
people with disabilities.
Mobility India’s
Regional Centre started outreach programme in Garden
Reach area and set up orthopaedic workshop in
North-East.

Partnership with Motivation, UK to improve the service
provision of wheelchairs begun.
International Committee of the Red Cross-special fund
for disabled started it support.
Rehabilitation Council of India awarded recognition for
Rehabilitation Therapy Assistant course.
PFKAFO
technology was transferred in Ethiopia through Hands on
workshop.

International Society of Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO)
President Mr. Harold Shangali & its consultant Dr Steen
J. Jensen evaluated the long term training programmes.
MI hosted an International consensus conference on
wheelchairs for developing countries was organised by
USAID, WHO and ISPO.
A
challenging and an ambitious project was initiated -
Education and Livelihood Opportunities at Chamrajnagar
District, Karnataka.

Mrs. Albina Shankar took over as the Director of
Mobility India.
Received recognition for its training programme by ISPO-
the only school in India.
Research activities expanded in the development of
machines and equipment

CBR programme in
Anekal taluk, Bangalore District begun.
Bachelors degree programme - 4 and ½ years affiliated to
Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences and
recognised by Rehabilitation Council of India commenced
on 16th October.
A workshop on
'Validation of the WHO CBR Guidelines' organized by WHO,
Rehabilitation Council of India and Leonard Cheshire
International hosted. |

year 2009
ELO’s work of three year reviewed by Mr. Naidu.
The 15th
Anniversary was celebrated on 2nd August
2009 by reflecting on all trials and
triumphs over the past years, acknowledging
friends old and new, and taking a pledge to
become better.
Many
individuals who played a significant role in
Mobility India’s growth were duly
acknowledged for their contribution.
