In the present modern world, where mechanization has conquered almost all the fields of industry even agriculture, workers are prone to accidents and further the terrorist attacks and civil wars to add to it. In most of the cases, it is the lower limb, which is amputed, immobilizing and confining them to the four corners of the wall.
Mobility India has developed a light weight plastic modular components of prosthesis, which could be assembled quickly light in weight, adaptable to all kinds of feet available including the bare foot model- i.e., Jaipur Foot.
The components are made of plastic so its very light in weight and priced at very affordable rates.
The Trans-Tibial Prosthectic Modular components (TTPMC) are :
1. Disc 2. Pylon 3. Socket adaptor
4. M10x60mm - SS nut & 1 bolt with radius washer
5. M10x60mm - SS nut & bolt with washer
6. Pylon raise 7.Pylon cover 8. Ethaflex 12mm sheet
1. Disc : The disc is made of Polypropylene with round hole slot at the centre which facilitates anterior-posterior and shifting medio- lateral shifting. The oval shape of the disc provides medio-
lateral.
The oval
shape of the disc provides angular adjustments in all direction. Two nos. of discs are required to assemble the prosthesis. One is placed below the socket and another is placed above the foot piece.
2.Pylon: - It's made out of polypropylene in 12 different sizes with a 1 centimeter interval which suits to fit Prosthesis in almost all level of trans-tibial amputation. At the bottom a slot is made so that a spanner can move freely and tighten it to the foot piece below and socket above with the help of a M10, SS nuts & bolts. PP Pylon, as per the correct length is fixed between socket and foot piece on top of the disc.
3.Socket Adaptor: Socket adapter is also made out of polypropylene. It is made tapered with the circular ribs which can be placed on the lower end of the mould.
Step 2:
Wrap steel grip tape round the socket adaptor and the mold in order to secure the aligned position. Hammer a nail at the centre of the socket adaptor and pour POP upto top level of socket adaptor.
2.
Mounting Socket Adaptor on modified mould.
Step 1 : Mark centre line of AP and ML and place the mold on a socket adapter in such way that the mould makes a 5 degree flexion and 5 degree adduction with respect to horizontal
plane.
3. Moulding / Lamination
Laminate or plastic mould the POP mould with socket adaptor under suction
4. Trimming & Socket Trial
Trim the socket grind it properly to smoothen edges and take a trial.
5. Assembling
a. Take the measured size of pylon.
b. Select the other components Convex disc - 2 Nos.
Nut & Bolt, Foot piece
Tighten the pylon disc and foot with M-10 nut & washer using spanner no. 17. Pylon should be perpendicular to the floor. Place another disc over the pylon. Place the socket over the disc.
Tighten the socket, disc and pylon with
M-10 x 60 bolt, nut and washer
8. Dynamic Alignment and Welding
Do the necessary dynamic alignment and weld all the joints using pp welding rod. with heatgun.
7. Trial
Take a trial in parallel bar.
6. Bench Alignment
Do the necessary bench alignment before trial.
How to place order for Components?
Send the following details only.
1. Distance from the end of the stump to floor.
2. Foot size & side
Note : Please use soft insert for all the transtibial prosthetic sockets
9. Gait Training
Do proper gait training to achieve maximum activity level & comfort.
10. Cosmetic covering Pull 12mm ethaflex cone over pre-shaped sank to make cosmetic cover and fit with the limb
